One may ask, just what is down home cooking. Well I'll put it this
way, the down home cooking that I am making reference to is the southern cooking that my Grandmother taught to her daughters,
which includes my mother while they were living in Winnfield Louisiana. Moma's Down Home Cooking didn't come with the many
bells and whistles that we see in our kitchens today.
As I look back over the years, there is one thing I can say for sure,
Moma always managed to grace our mouths (her family and others) with some of the most scrumptious food that one could every
expect to taste. I am forever thankful to my female ancestors my Great Great Great Grandmother Edna, my Great Great Grandmother
Nicey, my Grandmother Lillie White and my Mother Rachel whom all played a major roll in keeping our family alive through
their firm belief in God and his divine inspiration that funneled through each of these great women giving them
the know how to become scientist in the kitchens of their era. I will share some of my Down Home Cooking favorites with you
in the near future. Some of my favorites are:
Moma's Potato Salad
Green Bean Delight
Blackberry Cobbler
Apple Dumplings
Stuffed Lamb Shanks
These are but a few of the recipes that will be featured on this
site, so come back and visit me real soon! |
